First day of racing was tough
19. august 2010
The first day of racing was tough for all the boats in the Folkboat Gold Cup. 3 broken masts and lots of tired sailors could be seen in the harbour last night.
Winds from south west does always give challenging conditions in the waters south of the Great Belt bridge. I sees like the local boats could gain from this - with Søren Kæstel and co. leading the Gold Cup, Udo Pflüger (with local sailmaker Lars Jensen) ind 4.th place and John Jensen (brother of Lars) in 5.th place.
The danes have 6 boats among the first 10, the germans 3 and the only american boat is in 7.th place.
We are looking for great racing conditions today.
